Strategic Bid Management for a Leading European Offshore Developer

The Challenge

Our client, an established wind developer with the UK, was competing in the Scotwind seabed lease auction—considering it an essential opportunity for continued growth in the UK. To succeed, they needed to present a compelling bid that unified a cohesive storyline, seamlessly integrating a supply chain plan, technical design strategies, and a viable commercial approach, all while managing a complex network of both internal and external stakeholders.

Our Approach

To deliver a compelling value proposition for the auction, the client needed to ensure overall coherence in the final bid and establish a unifying thread across the various contributors involved. Given the intense competition in the UK offshore wind market, it was also crucial for the client to present a robust local supply chain plan, with a clear focus on job creation and industrial innovation.

Green Ducklings played a pivotal role in helping the client achieve these goals, serving as both a strategic project advisor and a hands-on participant in several workstreams throughout the bidding process. One of the key components of the supply chain development strategy was the creation of innovative installation concepts. These concepts were designed to differentiate the bid, optimize the use of existing ports and marine infrastructure, and drive local job creation.

A critical focus throughout the project was the need to align diverse stakeholders, ranging from technical experts in development, installation, and construction planning to commercial, supply chain, and political stakeholders. Effective collaboration across these varied groups was essential to ensure the project’s success.
